|This is a 1954 custom runabout restored by Katz Marina at Lake Hopatcong, NJ. See links for information on Katz Marina. |
The wood is Philippine mahogany with 10 coats of marine varnish. The wood on the top and transom is new wood. The wood on the sides and bottom is the original wood. It is amazing the condition of this original wood. Usually you find these boats leaking water when you first put them in for the season. The wood has to swell for a day or two before it seals up. When this boat goes in it barely leaks at all and is ready to go cruising the first day. The boat has a new electrical harness and new gas tank. It has the original Chris Craft K engine supplying about 190 HP. The seats were reupholstered with the original color. It is a very smooth cruising boat and a perfect size for our nine mile lake in north New Jersey at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains.
